Stratford Volleyball Club Inc.

The present Stratford Volleyball Club was reformed in early 1993, although volleyball has been played at a social level in Stratford for approximately 5 years previous.

Volleyball is currently one of the fastest growing sports in N.Z, especially since the beach version of the game increased the awareness of the sport, and this rapid increase in popularity is also evident in Stratford.

In 1994 the competition had grown to 16 teams due to the then committee's decision to raise it's profile and actively promote the sport in Stratford. The highlight of that season was jointly hosting with the Hawera Volleyball club, an international test match between the Australian and New Zealand Men's Volleyball Teams. This event was extremely successful and we are proud to say it was more than a sell-out crowd and even featured on the sports news on TV3.

In October 2005 our club hosted an international test match between Australia and New Zealand U19 Mens Teams. Once again, proving to be another successful event.

Today our club enjoys two seasons of volleyball, Spring League (4-a-side) and Winter League (6-a-side). Along with various tournaments played throughout the year.
